Womensport and Recreation NSW (WRNSW) mission is to promote the participation, access and equity for women and girls in sport and recreation in this state.
Our key objectives are:
To help girls be motivated to start or continue with sport by providing metropolitan and regional ‘Get Active’ events each year for hundreds of schoolgirls to meet female sporting champions and learn first-hand from these role models and experience playing different sports they may have never considered before.
To help athletes and sporting organisations maximise the use of media to drive interest in their teams or their particular sport by providing ‘hands-on’ workshops on the effective use of social media.
To work with state sport organisations to help more women step up to senior executive roles and to increase the number of women on our state’s sporting boards by providing entry into the well-established Leadership Program, run in partnership with the Chief Executive Women.
Through our Partnership for Longterm Strategic Planning project funded by the NSW Minister for Sport, Womensport NSW is linking with local government to improve the Access, Participation and Equity for women and girls through sport and recreation.
Councils have a big part to play in achieving our mission. Councils own the majority of sport and recreations facilities and influence and often determine who uses them.
- WRNSW is the only organisation of it’s type in NSW. We are a state wide advocacy helping to promote positive perceptions of women and girls in sport and drive both profile and participation. WRNSW provides many opportunities for sporting organisations and individuals, who believe in equity for all women.
